Reporting that helps

Give decision-makers the information they can act on.

Start with the audience

Different program conversations need different information. A workstream discussion may need detail that a governance meeting does not. Be clear about the decision each report is intended to support.

Explain the consequence

A status label does not explain the effect of a delay or uncertainty. Describe what has changed, what it affects and which decision is needed. This makes reporting part of delivery rather than a separate ritual.

Keep a clear record

Document the decisions and follow through on ownership. A concise record helps teams understand why the plan changed and what they need to do next.
